Hi, I'm Muchiri...
I'm a Data Scientist on the Insights & Analytics team at Sterling Rice Group, fascinated by the hidden (and not so hidden) patterns that shape our world. Whether I'm decoding consumer behavior or updating my March Madness predictions, I'm drawn to uncovering the logic behind seemingly random events.
During the day, I do what data scientists do—find signals in the noise and turn numbers into stories that matter. At night, I'll likely be reading something centuries old or diving into futurists' predictions, amused by how often these worlds overlap.
This site is my digital workshop—where I build models, test theories, and sometimes break things (but hey, that's how we learn). Take a look around, and if you spot anything that sparks your curiosity—or just feel like talking shop—I'd love to connect.
The Short Version
Based in Boulder, CO — A thoughtful place to live and work. The mountains offer perspective, and the pace invites focus.
BSc in Data Science, Minor in Mathematics — Centre College, Class of 2024. Selected as a Lincoln Scholar, the college's premier full-ride merit scholarship awarded to students committed to leadership and public purpose. Studied statistics, modeling, and the ethics of emerging technologies—with a focus on their intersections with equity and social impact.
Current Role: Data Scientist 1 — At Sterling Rice Group, I build predictive models, analyze market data, and translate insights into strategy. My work focuses on helping teams make informed, forward-looking decisions.
Research Interests — AI Ethics, Quantum Computing, and DeFi. I'm drawn to complex systems—especially those that challenge how we define trust, value, and accountability.
Programming Languages — Python, R, SQL, JavaScript, Q#. The practical side of my curiosity—tools I use to explore, explain, and build.
Current Involvement
KBX Fellowship
I'm part of the Kernel Community, where I'm researching decentralized reputation systems using zero-knowledge proofs.
The goal? To reimagine how trust works online—building systems that protect privacy while making credibility visible.
Legal Tech Startup
I'm working with a small team to make legal support more accessible to the people who need it most.
That means simplifying documents, building useful tools, and translating complexity into clarity.
Headstart Fellowship
I serve on the junior board at Headstart Fellowship, where I help mentor and support underrepresented students pursuing careers in tech.
It's about making space, sharing what I've learned, and lifting others as I keep climbing too.
Areas of Curiosity
A glimpse into what's currently occupying my mind:
Investigating how data science can be applied to social impact and systemic change
Preparing for IBM's Quantum Developer certification using Qiskit v0.2X
Studying MLOps workflows and large language models through the lens of reproducible AI research
Exploring financial derivatives modeling, with a focus on options pricing and portfolio optimization
Writing about the ethical foundations of AI and what decentralization could mean for governance and trust
If You're Still Curious
I'd recommend checking out my projects or writing. If something sparks a thought, or you want to discuss how we can use technology to make the world a bit better (while keeping our sense of humor intact), you can find me on email, GitHub, and LinkedIn.
Have a pleasant journey. After all, life is just one big optimization problem with undefined parameters.
